David Friend, MD, MBA, Chief Executive Officer
Bringing a zealous commitment to quality care and outcomes, David Friend has more than 35 years of global healthcare experience as a physician and operational executive leader. He joined the Senior Care Centers team in 2018 and understands that healthcare is going through tectonic transformation. He has been at the forefront of this movement counseling other post-acute healthcare providers in his role as a strategic consultant at BDO.
Prior to joining BDO, Dr. Friend was the Executive Vice President and Chief Clinical Officer of Golden Living where he was responsible for the care of 20 million patients annually provided by over 42,000 employees. Before that, he was the President and Chief Medical Officer of AseraCare Hospice. Dr. Friend also served as Chairman and CEO of The Palladium Group, as Managing Director in the Healthcare Practice at Alvarez & Marsal, and as Managing Partner, Board Member and Global Leader of the Healthcare practice at Willis Towers Watson.
Dr. Friend serves on the Board of Fallon Health and is a member of the Audit and Governance Committees. He also sits on the Executive Advisory Board of The University of Pennsylvania, LDI Health Policy Institute. Dr. Friend previously was appointed by the Governor of Connecticut to be a Founding Board Member of The University of Connecticut Health Center where served on the Board of the Teaching Hospital, Medical School and Dental School. Past board appointments also include Health Integrated, Willis Towers Watson, The Wharton School of The University of Pennsylvania Healthcare Alumni and The Palladium Group.
Mike Beal, Chief Operating Officer
With over 30 years of post-acute healthcare experience, Mike Beal serves as chief operating operator with Senior Care Centers and leads the operations of this post-acute care provider’s 100+ locations in Texas and Louisiana. Previously president of Kindred Healthcare’s Nursing Center Division, Mike managed operations of Kindred’s billion-dollar multistate state portfolio of Skilled Nursing and Assisted Living Facilities.
Mike earned a Bachelor of Science in electrical engineering and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Maine. Active in the post-acute care community, Mike has become a respected industry expert and thought leader. In his personal life, Mike carries his penchant for developing people as a certified SCUBA diving instructor and a certified skydiving instructor.
Venson Wallin, CPA, CGMA, CFE, CHC, CHFP, FHFMA, HCISPP, Chief Financial Officer
Having spent his entire professional life in healthcare, Venson Wallin has more than 32 years of financial, operational, valuation and compliance healthcare experience as an executive leader. He joined the Senior Care Centers team in 2018. He has worked with Dr. Friend on providing support to numerous skilled nursing, assisted living and hospice providers over the years, and has spoken on and authored several thought leadership speeches and articles on the post-acute industry.
Venson earned a Bachelor of Business Administration with a concentration in Accounting from the College of William & Mary. Venson is a CPA (Certified Public Accountant), CFE (Certified Fraud Examiner), CHC (Certified in Healthcare Compliance), CHFP (Certified Healthcare Financial Professional), and HCISPP (Health Care Information Security and Privacy Practitioner).
Kelly Morrison, Chief Legal Officer and General Counsel
Kelly brings over 30 years of broad based legal experience to the executive team of Senior Care Centers. Kelly has an extensive record of managing legal matters in an efficient and cost-effective manner. His current responsibilities consist of managing and guiding all legal services and serving as the chief legal adviser to senior leadership.
Kelly joined Senior Care Centers in 2016 after having served for 10 years as General Counsel-Corporate for Golden Living, a national long-term care, therapy and hospice family of companies. Kelly obtained his Juris Doctorate degree, Cum Laude from Pepperdine School of Law.
Teri Bonar, Chief Clinical Officer
With nearly 30 years of clinical experience, Teri Bonar oversees the clinical operations for Senior Care Centers where she is responsible for the company’s clinical policies and procedures. Prior to joining Senior Care Centers, Teri held a number of clinical leadership positions for other post-acute and long-term care providers including Genesis Health Care and HCR ManorCare.
Teri began her career as a Certified Nurse Assistant and earned the distinctions of Licensed Practical Nurse and Certified Legal Nursing Consultant. She earned her Associate Degree in Nursing from Hawkeye Community College in Waterloo, Iowa. Most notably, Teri served in the United States Army Reserve as a multichannel communications equipment operator.
Jim Glensky, Vice President of Procurement
With over 30 years of healthcare procurement industry experience, Jim Glensky helped design and spearhead many of the supplier systems in the industry today. Previously at Golden Living, Jim created the first DSSI online ordering system with Direct Supply, which now helps leverage the buying power of most major and mid-sized senior care facilities in the country. Jim also managed a fleet of over 2,000 vehicles in 23 states and implemented a Fleet policy for vehicle procurement and drivers.
Jim has a passion for the post-acute and long-term care mission, and he maintains a dogged commitment to ensure the supplier selection process upholds uncompromising standards with the goal of strong clinical outcomes and operational efficiency. Jim studied music at Westchester University and also served in the U.S. Army Quartermaster Corps.
